Sunday Funday

No, not brunch and getting drunk on mimosas....more around the house projects!  On the agenda today:  hanging the ceiling fan in Avery's nursery, painting the front door and changing the door bell button.

Let's start with the hanging the ceiling fan attempt.  Turn off the power..check.  Remove the existing light fixture...check.  Ummm now what?  We couldn't tell if the current fixture box was the type that could support a ceiling fan.  Nate tried to push it up and it didnt really budge...on one side.  Next thought, lets try the attic and see if we can tell.  Nope, no luck.  It just looks like a million pillows exploded up there and I'm not really sure how anybody would find anything.  One would think that the builder of new house would have put in the proper box in case someone wanted to hang a ceiling fan, but it turns out probably not.  With how things have been going with this house, I'm really not surprised at all.

Next logical step: head to Home Depot for some education.  Wouldn't you know the box that we have looks quite similar to the one in the ceiling fan installation book that they said you had to use a dry wall saw and cut away the ceiling.  Deciding this project was way above our pay grade we put our names on the list for an installer to come out and give us a quote.  Hopefully its an easy and cheap job.
Yep this is as far as we got but you get a sneak peak of one of the walls of the nursery!

Into the attic with you
Second project on the agenda: changing the door bell button and painting the door.  Success!  The door bell button now matches the house numbers and lights up and three coats of paint later on the door, I'm very happy with how it turned out.

Ta da!

Check and Check

Today I finally checked off some of things that have been on my to do list.  We got the garage organized and I decided that it was close enough to October (therefore perfectly acceptable) to put my Halloween decorations up.  Nate says he disagrees but he did help me pick out and carry the pumpkins...so you be the judge.  We also decided to hiring a cleaning service today.  I figure it's a small price to pay to not spend half the weekend doing chores.  Cleaning is for the birds!

Oh yeah! Today also marked another milestone; I finally figured out how to make a collage with the Adobe Photo editing software I bought 5 months
ago! Yay!
